Deviant (Of Vince Mack Mahon):
Deviant has been lurking around the west of Ireland, promoting hip hop, turntablism, drinking tea and professional wrestling since time began (roughly 2001). First coming to attention via the legendary 091 club (“best club in the country”, JimCarroll, Irish Times 2003, how cool is that?), he was one of the few banging out the rap beats weekly via residencies at GC Underground and Rootdown in Galway as well as up and down the country when promoters wanted a skratch DJ but couldn’t afford Mek or Tu – Ki.
Getting sick of the relentless tide of pussy and money being thrown at him he upped sticks to Brighton in 2005, hooking up with the Grandeurs of Delusion crew and performing on the “Stale Breath Of Fresh Aah” album released by Stanley Lockjaw’s fledgling Nausecorps imprint in 2007. He however found the Sussex drawl made his ears leak a jellylike pus and withdrew from the Queen’s rule before the album was released.
Finding himself back in his parents’ house in the middle of the bog he set about finishing off all those beats he’d been fiddling with for months, releasing the CD-R album “Fragments & Stammerings” to little/no acclaim. While sitting around late one night discussing politics and fine wine, with longtime buds Jimmy Penguin and Mikey Fingers and new skratch fien’ about town Tweek, the idea for Community Skratch Games was born. Three months later a load of loons gathered in the Bierhaus in Galway town to shout obscenities at some geeks rubbing records. Twas fuckin’ class and they’ve been doing it ever since.
The eight armed skratch beast that is Vince Mack Mahon was also born at this time, they performed their first show in a closet at the top of the stairs in a house full of drunk arty girls and boring hairy men. Twas equally class and they’ve been doing it sporadically since, releasing the dopest turntable album of all time in April 2009.
Actually, fuck that, the dopest skratch album of all time is “Screw Sick – Scenes One to Three”, released by Deviant & Naive Ted in February 09. The album was composed entirely with a turntable, mixer, loopstation, software multitracker, a load of hippy records and not a jot of programming or FX came near it and still noone but Johnny Doobs gave a shit.
His debut solo 7″ is due for imminent release on Alphabet Set records.
You’ll love it.

Jimmy Penguin (Of Vince Mack Mahon):
Jimmy The Hideous Penguin is one of Ireland’s hidden electronic diamonds. Hailing from Galway in the blustery west of Ireland, Jimmy makes music that varies between sultry bass heavy electronica, progressive scratch and slow burning ambient tracks richly orchestrated with organic instrumentation. Yep this guy is a jack of all trades.

If you don’t like reading, then here’s some audio & video which will give you an idea of what to expect from Mr. Penguin : http://www.youtube.com/user/CommunitySkratch

Jimmy the Hideous Penguin is a young man from Galway with a serious scratch addiction. And shower as he might, he just can’t get rid of it. One of the people behind Galway’s ‘Community Skratch Games’ (an annual week long celebration of scratch music and culture), a member of the infamous scratch ensemble ‘Vince Mack Mahon’ and also a Dj / Producer in his own right, Jimmy has dedicated the best part of the last decade to advancing the possiblities of the turntable as a musical instrument.
Lot’s of people are Dj’s and producers these days, but for Jimmy Dj’ing IS production and vice-versa. “I tend to make quite a bit of sample-based stuff but I write most of the music myself. My live setup and my studio setup is usually pretty similar, I use a turntable, a Rane mixer and a Jamman loop pedal. I run that into my computer for basic effects e.g. reverb. I also use Serato, guitar rig and a Microkorg synthesiser.”
Anyone can check the results from this relatively organic setup as there are a slew of albums available (free!) from Jimmy’s myspace. The music varies between sultry bass heavy electronica, progressive scratch and upbeat electro, descriptions you have probably heard before, but in this case they are vain attempts to pin down what is a very distinctive sound.
Jimmy plans to commit some music to vinyl later this year. If the free releases are anything to go by, they really will be something to saviour.
Don’t forgot to check out the Vince Mack Mahon self titled album (featuring Mr Penguin) released on the Nozl label earlier this year too.

Jimmy Hatetank/ aka DJ Manipulate (of Grandeurs Of Delusion)

Also known as DJ MANIPULATE and well renowned for his flawless, musical hardcore approach to what has become scratch music. In 1999, after performing at various events around the UK he co-formed SURGICAL CUTS with djs BLOOD ONE, ASIF & FIDEL CUTSTRO ..They went on to do well in dj battles and  became renowned for their forward thinking in the scratch dj scene. A few years down the line after many gigs worldwide, MANIPULATE decided to concentrate on his solo career. Various rap artists heard about his controlled musical scratch style and recruited him for cuts on rap releases. He then decided to start his own scratch music label…NAUSECORPS. The first release was a collaborative 7” vinyl with Kris “TRASH” Weston(formerly of THE ORB) and was well received as it featured the hybrid of pure scratch music and the best new music production techniques.. At the same time MANIPULATE was busy planning a new futuristic idea;….an electronic/turntable based band that will be comprised of who he thought were the best new scratch artists outside of the commercial radar….2007 rolled in and GRANDEURS OF DELUSION was born, and together they came up with a groundbreaking, genre twisting album; “A STALE BREATH OF FRESH AHHH”. This has been followed with the electro scratch “Night Of The Flavigator” in 2009.

As well as his live performances with G.O.D , he is also touring worldwide with STIG OF THE DUMP & DR SYNTAX and his scratches can be found on releases from them and also on the album RUP ON ZEBRA on ZEBRA TRAFFIC records…look for more scratch features on various forthcoming releases
